Tourism and Hospitality studies
In particular, Griffith’s reputation and location make it the ideal setting to kick-start careers in tourism and hospitality.

The Department of Tourism, Leisure, Hotel and Sport Management is the largest university level tourism and hospitality education provider in Australia, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Hotel Management, Tourism Management, International Tourism and Hospitality Management and Event Management.

On campus, students enjoy world-class facilities, including CJ’s fully operational training restaurant. Off campus, from the Department’s Gold Coast location, students can enjoy Australia’s most thriving tourism environment via practical research projects and work-integrated learning programs which form a core component of all study programs. Students gain exposure to real business networks through local industry partners such as Gold Coast Airport, Sea World, Movie World (research) and Sheraton Mirage, Conrad Jupiters, Palazzo Versace and the Marriott Hotels.

In keeping with the global flavour of the Tourism and Hospitality industry, Griffith University actively fosters a strong international culture, both within the Department and through overseas exchange programs.

Research and Industry Programs
As participant and host of the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre
(STCRC) and the International Centre of Excellence (THE-ICE), Griffith University actively pursues research and innovation in areas impacting the global tourism and hospitality industry. Twenty PhD positions are currently offered within the Department.

The Service Industry Research Centre acts as co-ordinator for a number of specialist research areas including:
