AUPAIR IN IRELAND -

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AUPAIR?

Aupair programme is a programme lasting several months or more for persons in the age of 18-30 years (usually girls, but also boys). You work abroad as an aupair, a young person taking care of the children. The families hosting an aupair, in return for the care of the kids and help in the house (25-30 hours per week), offer accommodation, meals and pocket money for your expenditures. Aupair is treated as a member of the family, very often takes part in all family events and ceremonies actively, travels and goes on holidays with the family.

What is more, and the most important, the person employed as an aupair has the opportunity to learn the language in practice, get to know new people and culture of the country. Aupair can also take part in language courses. The costs of the course are covered by yourself or by the family. It depends on the individual agreements with the family. Aupair is treated as the programme of cultural exchange, not as employment.

The principles of the aupair employment in Europe are regulated by convention no 68 passes by Council of Europe, which determines aupair as an intermediate form between a students stay and employment and regulates the formal principles of employment and remuneration.

Travelling and language learning as an aupair is extremely popular all over the world. Young persons from all continents decide to spend several months or a whole year abroad to learn the language, get to know the culture and every-day life in the chosen country.

WHAT DIFFERS US FROM OTHER aupair AGENCIES?

On the contrary to other aupair agencies, LEXIS gives the complete offers to the candidates immediately - together with the description of the families looking for the babysitters for their children. The candidate has the possibility to choose the family that suits him/her best. You may also report your candidacy to the programme in advance. This enables us to choose the family for you taking your preferences into account.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

The person taking part in the programme has to be in the age of 18-30, has to be experienced in taking care of the children and has to know English to be able to communicate. You mustn't smoke, have criminal past. You should be unmarried and childless. (Married persons or persons having children are missing home very soon and they want to come back). It is advantegous for you if you have driving licence and can swim (so that you can drive the child to school or go to the swimming pool), but it is not necessary.

Duties: keeping the house in order, preparing simple meals for the kids, playing with them, driving them to the school and picking them up from school, helping the kids with homeworks, helping with the laundry, cleaning, babysitting.
Hours:25-35 hours per week.
Pocket money: 100 - 120 euro per week
Lenght of stay: 4 - 12 months, during holidays 2-4 months.
